In following the path of A year of Living Positively, if we ask the questions, " What is the end game? How do I wish to be different after one year?" Then stopping compulsive thinking is surely part of the answer. If monitoring our thoughts in order to really see how we immediately characterize everything, and develop opinions based only on our established preconceptions, then I believe I have found an insightful article that approaches this idea of compulsive thinking (or what Buddhists call the "monkey mind") from a mystical perspective. The writer goes beyond just monitoring our thoughts to exercises that will lead to a new way of being. Which is I think the largest possible answer to both of the questions above.
This is an article by an author I know only as Ete and is from the Hello Poetry website. This may be a bit lengthy, but I think worth the read. This is worth it whether or not one believes in reincarnation As Ete obviously does.
