Here is how life always treats me: Whenever I espouse and begin to seriously live with a spiritual principle, or tell anyone about or write about a spiritual principle, life will say to me , "Okay, so you say this is what you believe; well here is an opportunity to live the truth you know." And into my life will come an extreme challenge in which I must truly step up to the plate and actually confront the challenge by applying the spiritual principle. Over time I have discovered that this is a very consistent activity of the Divine Presence in my life.
Often I espouse this as the truth I know: rejoice always, pray without ceasing and in all circumstances give thanks. This is to live prayerfully, gratefully and with joy in my heart no matter what life's circumstances have brought to me. This is living in faith no matter life's difficulties. As I said, this is not always easy. Sometimes the challenge seems too overwhelming. But also over time I have discovered that the challenges have become more and more severe or difficult (or I might say they simply have that appearance). I believe this is because I have grown spiritually and so the challenges have grown proportionally. The Divine within knows that my greater challenges are forging greater spiritual growth.
Here is my current challenge in which I am living in faith, having turned all over to God. I am making the attempt every day to live prayerfully, gratefully and with joy in my heart. I ask your indulgence as I share something personal. The most wonderful person with whom I share my life has recently been diagnosed with cancer. As we began this journey together my first prayer was - Thank you God. We will live with joy in our hearts and turn everything over to you, living in faith that our highest good is here now, and all is well in every moment. We believe that despite the apparent severity and difficulty, they are just that- only appearances in the outer world. The truth of our inner knowing has far more power than any appearance in the outer world. Let me say very clearly, I am not saying that there is a God who gave a disease to someone so that I can have a spiritual experience, but I am saying that since it has occurred I will use the experience to live in faith.
The truth we know is that living in faith in the Divine and remaining joyful and grateful is the path to true healing. We do our best every day now to live this truth. I can tell you that in this we have both found peace and are comforted by our inner knowing. Thank you God for this opportunity to live spiritually open to you as part of your plan for our lives. We know and live in your healing power and all is well.
